The chamber's Evenings on River Street series runs every Wednesday from 6 to 9 PM, June 24 through August 5, along the downtown River Street stretch. Each week has a theme and its own live music, which is the part most residents underuse. Instead of showing up whenever, pick a night that fits how you actually spend a summer evening.

What 151 River Street becoming The Foundry actually changes
The address that housed Siren Hall, then American House Woodfired Pizza, has a new tenant. Three local business partners are teaming up to open The Foundry in Elk Rapids, taking over the former Siren Hall and American House Woodfired Pizza location on River Street. The operators are Andre Bushell and Loren Akerman, who built the original Foundry Bar & Grill in East Jordan, and Adam Earle, who ran the region's Firehouse Subs locations. The East Jordan Foundry, which first opened in 2019, was named the 2022 Business of the Year by the East Jordan Chamber of Commerce.
Two things are worth reading into this. First, 151 River Street has been the town's hardest room to hold. Two well-liked concepts came and went in the same address inside a few years, which tells you the space is prominent but demanding. Bringing in a team with a proven Antrim County track record is a different bet than the last two attempts. Second, the partners have been public about wanting to keep menu development tied to Elk Rapids specifically rather than porting East Jordan's playbook wholesale. For residents, that means the second visit will matter more than the first. Give the kitchen a month before you form an opinion.
The other end of town: DAM Good Pizza at the marina
Down at Dam Beach, The Dam Shop added on to its kitchen for 2026 to launch DAM Good Pizza. The building already carries more weight than its footprint suggests. Its 4,000-square-foot facility houses a full-service espresso bar, food and beverage options, a retail store, a full-service cocktail bar, restrooms, and a marine pro shop. Adding pizza turns it from a boater's convenience stop into a legitimate dinner option for people walking over from the west-side neighborhoods.
The practical read: if The Foundry ends up with a wait on a Friday, the marina end of River Street now has a real fallback that did not exist a year ago. That is a genuine shift for a town where summer dinner logistics have historically meant either committing early or driving to Traverse City.
The village was recently named a NextCycle Michigan Seed Award recipient, alongside its existing designations as a Pure Michigan Trail Town and a Monarch City U.S.A. Small awards, but they map to the same story: incremental investment in the parts of town residents actually use.
Harbor Days is the anchor, not the peak
Elk Rapids Harbor Days runs August 5–8, 2026, and features the Grande Parade and the fireworks show by Zambelli Fireworks. If you have lived here more than a season you know the drill. The advice for 2026 is narrower than the usual "get there early."
- The Wednesday of Harbor Days weekend is also the final Evenings on River Street of the year. Two programs collide on August 5. Expect River Street to be its busiest single evening of the summer.
- The Grande Parade route pulls foot traffic off the harbor for roughly an hour. That is the window to grab a bench at Dam Beach if you want a spot for the fireworks that does not require staking a blanket at 3 PM.
- Zambelli launches over the harbor, so the west-facing waterfront homes and the boats moored off the marina get the best sightlines. From downtown, the sightline is fine but partially screened by tree cover along River Street.
For residents hosting out-of-town family, Harbor Days is the easy sell. For your own weekend, the two evenings on either side of the fireworks are usually the better time to be in town.
If you skip the fireworks
The shoulder events pick up where Harbor Days leaves off. The 2026 Elk Rapids Arts & Crafts Show returns on August 7, with a second date on September 5. The September date is the one to circle. It falls after Labor Day, which in Antrim County means the summer population has largely rolled out and the show becomes a genuinely local event again. Vendors linger, conversations get longer, and the light at that time of year is the best it gets on the harbor.
The water still runs the calendar
Elk Rapids is a village with a lake on one side and a river cutting through the middle, and the summer programming reflects that whether or not anyone plans it. Evenings on River Street is named for the street, but half the crowd drifts down to the dam and the beach between sets. Harbor Days is a harbor festival with a parade attached. The Paddle Antrim Festival, which celebrates the region's waterways and communities, keeps the paddling side of that identity visible even in a summer thick with land-based events.
